Republicans Have Made This Meal, Time To Eat It!

I will start this piece by saying I did not support Trump in the primary. Early on I like a lot of people thought his campaign was not more than a publicity stunt for his brand.  But time went on and his popularity increased. He started to win primaries and had to be taken more seriously. Yes, I agree that most of the debates and Trump’s performance in them was cringe-worthy. Most I could watch but nothing derailed this dumpster fire of a campaign.

With each passing month more “substantial” candidates fell by the wayside until only Trump was left. How was this possible? Donald Trump was going to be the Republican nominee for president!?! I must admit is was and still is tough to wrap my brain around. Republicans had the finest group of candidates they have had in quite some time and this was how it was going to end?! Yes, this is what we have, Donald Trump, with all of the warts.

How did this happen? MY view is that Republicans have been selling “snake oil” and empty promises for seven years. They have continuously over-promised and have continued to come up short. in 2012 these cries for the repeal of Obamacare were never going to happen! But Republicans signed oaths and campaigned on the repeal of Obamacare knowing full well that Obama was never going to sign a bill that repealed his signature piece of legislation. But the rank and file hungry for a win and tilted at the Obamacare windmill. Failure.

In 2014 Republicans came back to their base and in effect said that if can’t kill Obamacare we will starve it. So rank and file Republicans more desperate for a win than they were in 2012 were all in! Surprise of all surprises, Republicans were now “in control” of the US Senate.  Surely there would be earth shaking change as Obama’s agenda came to a crashing halt! Well not only didn’t the Obama agenda stop it gained speed and took on more Obamacare, and executive amnesty, and Planned Parenthood funding, all of which was funded with the help of former vice – presidential candidate now House Speaker Paul Ryan.  Such betrayal! Could anyone be trusted?!?! Would anyone keep their promise? This opened the door to an outsider. It was going to take a “take charge, get things done” person to encourage Republican voters that they had a chance and any future. Donald Trump seemed to fit the bill.

Trump’s past dealing were easily explained away by the Reagan comparison strategy. Trump appears to be tough. He is not “well spoken” and that seems to separate him from more ” polished” politicians.  Which has worked to his advantage thus far. Trump is “shoot from the hip” and not cerebral which has allowed him to capture the emotion of the those that feel betrayed by Republicans. I get the frustration. “Established” Republicans have failed time after time. People are sick of it.

I also understand that “established” Republicans are in no hurry to turn their power, influence, and position to a guy like Trump. He has made it clear that people like Bush, Ryan, and Romney have no place or position in a Trump presidency. The last thing they want to be is irrelevant. And I think in a Trump White House they would be just that. So they believe they are fighting for their political future.

This is the crux of the problem, they are not fighting for those that they say they represent they are fighting for themselves. “Established” Republicans are using the vitriol of the primaries to fuel their continued attacks against Trump.

But at some point you have to start thinking strategically don’t you?  There is no way to replace Trump and not have Clinton win the White House in November is there? Of course not. The facts are the facts, millions of Republicans support Trump this is monster “Established” Republicans have created. It would seem the only talking point to have while being questioned by media should be ” I will vote for the Republican nominee, thus supporting the choice of millions of Republicans.” Yes, for a lot of people this is a crap sandwich, but there is little choice at this point. Sprinkle some sugar on it deep fry it, and Bon appetit!

OPEN LETTER: Black Conservatives Running For Local Office – Give Up Now!

That’s right give up now before you turn bitter, cold and cynical. Give up while you have your reputation and some dignity. Give up before your disdain for the process and the people in it become too much to bear.

Running for any political office in the 21st century is a huge undertaking. Everything, I mean everything is time consuming and expensive. It will become apparent to you early that only the very rich and/or the unemployed have the time and/or money to run for office.

But if for some reason you just can’t help yourself and you decide to file anyway, give up early before anyone notices. Once they notice you are bound to see and hear faux offers of support wrapped in faux votes of confidence. This is dangerous because you will be tempted to hang in there and continue when you should really stop the madness of a campaign.

The truth is that you are not going to get the support that it really takes to be competitive in a campaign let alone win. Chances are you running in a district currently dominated by entrenched liberal democrats or in a more “reddish” district against a much more establish opponent. In either case you are screwed.

Give up before you get any token monetary support because that will make you feel obligated to hang in until you are eliminated by the qualifying process or much worse you suffer an embarrassing defeat.

You will notice the “buzz” of your campaign get smaller and smaller. You will be able to see this as people ask you less and about it and ask you questions like ” What are running for again?”, “Where is that district?” and other variations of these questions.

Give up and get out, because you will get frustrated and upset!

Even worse a new phenomenon has appeared in the past few years, the mirage of a life boat in the form of PACs that state their purpose is help candidates like yourself. Their websites and business cards have pictures of Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr. on them. When you find them, you get a sense of relief because you think that they are to help you with the things you need. At least that what the mission statement seems to say.

But you find out that most of them could care less about your run for school board, because you don’t bring any major excitement to the table. And no excitement means no money. So the cavalry you thought was coming is not. I have seen nine of ten of these “organizations” pop up. I have even been sucked into the hopes and change of the claims of these groups.

In 2012 I found such a group and after a great deal of digging found a phone number to call. I called the number (it was a cell number) and left a message. After about 3 weeks someone returned my call. He asked me about my campaign that I left a message about. I told him that I was a Republican running in a Democrat District and his next question was if I had a primary. Primary!?! So does that sound like someone that is in tuned to the local Black conservative’s plight? Well, the last I heard from him was right then. He told me that after the primaries his organization would be ready to contribute $500.00 (the max) to my campaign. I said thank you and hung up the phone. I thought to myself how am I going to get past the primaries without the money it takes to have the things you need to at least have the appearance of a real campaign?

In the 2016 cycle there are even more such organizations, I even helped two them with their with their media release. It didn’t take long to learn that at least one of them had no intention of helping my campaign. In fact, the lead of the organization got angry with me when I even mentioned my campaign. His support was to say he would send out an email to his donors to see if anyone would be interested in helping me. Funny thing though, no one ever contacted me.

The other organization is based right here in my own state and I was told to my face by the lead that this PAC was to help campaign just like mine. Remember what I said about the life boat mirage? Well, more than a year has passed and I have not received a single dime from this organization and now just like the first organization they are telling me that I am running my campaign wrong. That is the totality of support. At the same time the same organization has been running around the country supporting national candidates.

I have characterized campaigns, especially local one like infants, they need a great deal of care early or they won’t survive. So this continued being put off until something else happens pretty much getting to be too frustrating for words. I have recently spoken with the lead of the second organization and the first thing he said was that I was not a “real campaign!” No help for a year but quick with the criticism. Both PACS actually have asked me to donate, and because I am a dumbass, I have!

If you are a Black conservative that has filed to run in a local race in the 2016 election cycle my advice to is, GIVE UP AND QUIT NOW! You are looking for help as your qualifying deadline draws near, I am writing this to let you that there is no help coming. I wish I could say that the future for us will be brighter later, but there is no evidence of that. Give up now.

Nobody Talking Tax Code This Time Around

With all that has surrounded the presidential election cycle what has not been something that would make a marked difference in the candidates that are left is any discussion of making real changes to the tax code. I find this curious because there is nothing that touches every single American as much as the tax code. Whether directly in form of having to write a check or indirectly in form of living with aftermath of a broken tax code destroys business growth and employment opportunities.

In 2008, Mike Huckabee presented to the nation the “Fair Tax”, which would have ended the reign of terror of the IRS for most Americans. But Huckabee’s views on immigration were a mountain too tall for most to climb over to unchain themselves from the death grip of the IRS and a progressive tax system that needs K Street to operate.

In 2012 Herman Cain’s “9-9-9” plan that met to much critical acclaim was interned with the bones of a failed campaign, killed by lies and innuendo.

This cycle all of the proposed tax plans are different versions of the same life chocking and economy killing progressive system we have now. I wonder why that is. Could it be that if any candidate proposes a plan that diminishes that power of K. Street signs the death warrant of their campaign?

The Insanity Of Open Primaries

There doesn’t seem like I can do anything about it but, this whole open primary thing seems to be the lynchpin of election corruption.

The entire idea of open primaries and why either major political party would participate in them escapes me. FR me it is like Apple letting everyone including Samsung, LG, Motorola have a say in who their next CEO is going to be. I seems like a system ripe for chaos and corruption. But there is a presidential candidate that is benefiting from this madness, Donald Trump.

In New Hampshire, an open primary state only 55% people voting in the Republican primary identified themselves as Republican. How can this result be considered as an accurate voice of New Hampshire Republicans that went to the polls to express their preference for the Republican Party’s nominee for President? It seems foolish to consider any of this anything other than chaos and foolishness. The 55% self identified Republicans split their vote between Trump and the other Republican candidates, a clear diluted vote for sure.

Super Tuesday is today and vintage media is chomping at the bit to “call” the primary process closed by the 11 o clock new tonight. But I don’t see how this is possible with the number of primaries today.

I am of the mind that there need to be campaign reform but the first reform should be the elimination of open primaries.

What I Think About Guns

President Obama today pushed by executive order some gun control measures. He effectively made it impossible for private citizens to sell their own property (sic) guns unless they have a license from the federal government. His plans are to “boost gun safety technology”, I am not sure what that means and neither are you. This seems to be a further advance to roll back the second amendment and the right for me to own a firearm.

I thought that I would share my personal experience with guns.

I grew up in a very violent household. My father was an alcoholic and drug user. He would get drunk and beat my mother, it was a while before he hit me but at 12 years that happened too. I don’t mean a spanking for some wrong I had done but a backhand that sent me flying across the room because he was high and drunk and violent. I lived in constant fear whenever he didn’t come home right after work that he would show up drunk and beat us.

Well one August night just a few days before I started 7th grade was one of those nights. You never knew what would set him off, and I don’t remember what it was that night either. I was in my room and hard crashing, it was my mother falling to the ground in their bedroom. I got up and started banging on their bedroom door. He came to the door and told me to back to my room. I tried my best as a 12 year old to calm him down, but before I could look up he back handed me and I went flying over my bed. My mom came into the room to see if I was alright. That seem to settle the situation for a few minutes she sent to the kitchen to get a cool towel for my face.

As I was turning back to go to my room my dad had come out of their bedroom and was in between me and my mom. And there was a loud pop and a flash. He shot her! That son of bitch shot my mother! Right there in front of me! I ran to the neighbors as fast as I could and they called they police and an ambulance came. My mom was shot in the stomach. She cried out when she saw the police put my father in the police car. And then I heard her moan, words I hear now that I am writing this. I heard moan… I’m dead… I’m dead…. For years every night I relived this horror.
So when someone talks to me about gun violence I think to myself you cant tell me anything! You can’t relate a sadder story to me than I know by my own experience. So I am not ready to own a gun. I may not ever be ready. But what I do know is making harder for me or anyone else to protect their family only makes the bad guy safer. I am pretty sure that none of President Obama’s executive orders today would prevented my personal tragedy.

As I get older I learn more. I have learned that this freedom thing, is very hard. It can be very painful at times. But it is worth it.

Conservatives Must Win in 2016

It is my thought that the conservative movement needs a win in 2016 or we be relegated to the dust bin of history. I know that is a very bold very statement but, it is time for bold statements. It is time to take off the 1776 blinders and see our situation for what it is now and behave accordingly.

In the past 7 years I have see nothing but division in the people that purport to defend the constitution and the Socialist Democrats that have taken over the vintage media and the a great deal of our government. Most of the infighting has not been about strategy, it has been a constant barrage of personal attacks that has left most conservatives defeated and depressed. There hasn’t been a unifying voice on the right that can develop a common cause.

I don’t want to see myself as a bigger light than I am but, I feel it is passed time for someone to stand up and say what must be said to the conservative community. Frankly, I will say exactly what I have been saying about the left to my friends on the right. It is time now fr the adults to send the children back to the children’s table.

Thank God for the Tea Party movement. It brought forth some terrific Americans that have and continue to do great things for the country. Without the Tea Party movement we might not know the likes of Col. Alan West or K. Carl Smith. Hundreds of Black conservatives used the conduit of the Tea Party to gain a national audience. But as with any populus movement, many people have a great deal of passion but lack the sophistication required to sustain a movement.

The sophistication I speak of comes in the form of ability see the “bigger picture” when it concerns the survival of the entire movement. That lack of sophistication caused many “turf” battles between Tea Party groups. Even though a great number people that aligned themselves along with the Tea Party movement were or had been Republican but that didn’t stop the turf battles between Tea Party groups and the Republican Party. The Tea Party movement had not yet gained the people that were familiar with branding and messaging and the as we know the Republican party has been notoriously bad those things for a long time. This gave the vintage media a great opportunity to portray Tea Party supporters as costumed racists. As the political battles became more intense so did the out of control rhetoric. The vintage media feasted on the smorgasbord outrageous and angry statement coming for passionate people concerned about the direction of the beloved country.

Now we are in a place that most vestiges of the Tea Party movement are gone or impotent in any real way. Yes, there are hastags and some website out here but most of them are not used anymore and the sites have very small followings. So now we have little choice but to embrace the “bigger picture” strategy.

We must employ the progressive strategies of incrementalism and focus. For us it means that we must always get the most conservative people elected and the most conservatives laws passed while all the time focused on getting more. We must never be satisfied, we must continue by pushing ever forward. Our elected candidates must never feel safe or comfortable in any office, because of the constant push of conservative principles will always be pushed and demanded from them.

We must also decide to participate in the culture war to regain the hearts of America and its youth. Nostalgia, is lost on youth and thus is a bad strategy win it comes to winning elections and pushing a conservative agenda. The future is the way to attract new and younger voters to our cause. Embracing the current culture and offering conservative solutions is better than demeaning it and those that are involved in the current culture. For instance, making pejorative statements about millennials will not endear them to our ideas.

We have to realize and understand that the avenues to winning voters is through the media that is popular. We have to become adept at more social media than facebook. We must get positive messages about the future in every conceivable place. A full blown media campaign that goes on 24/7/365, not just at election time. Our message must be able to stand alone and not be tied to a candidate for it resound. Candidates can be flawed. We must make sure that the positive message for the future is not entrusted to a flawed candidate. Barack Obama was a flawed candidate but was able to carry a positive message.

Obama was laden with flaws, Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright,no executive experience, questionable campaign practices in Illinois, and his birth certificate madness. Still he able to deliver positive message. We are sure now what we knew then, Obama message was and is all sizzle and no steak. But it does point out the power of a positive message. Conservatives must craft a positive message, especially for millennials. Something to contrast the doctrine of doom for progressive. We must craft a message of empowerment for the individual, building on the uniqueness of each person.

The importance of victory in 2016 can not be overstated!

Growing A Community Of Dependency

I am sitting here watching a story on a groups of kids in south Florida that wanted to do something for other children that don’t get presents at Christmas. This seems like a wonderful warm idea but as the story played out the group of deserving children were all Black and the givers were all White. I know that some might think that I am making too much from this, but it was the comments of the Black children.

All of the children seemed more than just appreciative, they are learning a lesson. The lesson they learned this Christmas was that White people should give you stuff. The White children are being taught by their parents that they should feel bad about what they have and should spend time, energy, and effort giving it away to others.

I know that this post seems all #blacklivesmatters-ish but in reality it is just the opposite. This idea that that White Children are to “give something back” other than just being thankful for what they were born into perpetuates this supposed White guilt, as well as perpetuates the idea that White people owe Blacks something and it is their moral duty to provide it.

What also popped out at me while watching this piece was the ease of the Black parent in accepting the gifts. There didn’t seem to be any resistance or embarrassment that a group of White children were providing what they couldn’t for their children.

We ( Americans) Must Not Let This Woman Be President

I am not sure what it is going to take for Americans to see the danger that we are in from both internal and external forces. Hillary Clinton must be stopped! She is not suited to obe president of the United States of America. We must band together to preserve the Republic before it is destroyed. The disaster that has been the Obama administration will be worse tenfold should this woman gain the presidency.
